Sunday's Message, January 29, 2017

Be A Bold Witness

The apostles in the book of Acts changed the world forever.  How did they do that?  By being a bold witness of the good news through Christ’s power.

This Sunday I’m preaching about being a bold witness from 1 Samuel 17:37-51.  It’s the story of David and Goliath.  What do David and Goliath have to do with being a bold witness?  Well, David saw the giant warrior mocking Israel’s God, so he boldly fought him in order that “all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

If David could risk his life to get that message across, so can we.  Sunday I’ll share how we can do that.  It’s going to be fun!

Speaking of fun!  We’re having our 5th Sunday potluck, so please bring enough food to feed yourself and others who might come without food.  It’s the Christ-like thing to do!  Please put the food in the Fellowship Hall before Sunday School so you don’t miss out on a great lesson from God’s Word and you don’t miss out on worship.  Missing out on Sunday School and worship defeats the whole purpose of the potluck which is to attract people to church!

Also, speaking of fun, we’re having our “Fun & Fellowship Day at El Camino Baptist Church” this Saturday.  We’ll have doughnuts at 9:00 and lunch at noon.  That morning we’ll be working around the church.  Is church work fun?  You bet!  Come and see!

I appreciate this church so much!  I see people working so hard with so much love that it moves me deeply.  Your commitment is part of that bold witness of which I’ll be speaking Sunday!

With love in Christ,
Dr. Jim Meek

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.    2 Corinthians 9:7
