Sunday's Message
June 24, 2018

HONOR THE CHURCH

I remember being in preschool on a Sunday night, crying in the lap of the worker.  The other kids were playing, having a great time but I was missing my Dad.  Suddenly at the end of church he looked through the window of the preschool door and my tears vanished.  I often think about the nobility of that nursery worker.  Her reward is great in heaven!

I remember walking down the aisle at the age of nine, giving my life to Jesus.

I remember walking down the aisle surrendering to full time Christian service when I was a freshman in college.  I led the congregational singing and served as a deacon at that church.

Now I’ve been a pastor for 41 years!

I’ve always loved the church.  I’ve always felt badly for people who didn’t go to church.  And I never understood Christians who fail to go to church.  The church is called the very bride and body of Christ.  To neglect the church is to neglect Christ!

Won’t you join me this Sunday as I preach on, “Honor the Church” from Philippians 1:1-11?  Paul wrote to his favorite church a letter of joy.  Let’s seek through God’s power to be like that church, a church that inspires joy!

Meanwhile, don’t forget our Business Meeting this Sunday night at 6:00 where we’ll consider new Bylaws.  Bring your favorite dessert to share in the foyer after the meeting.

Also, we need help with our 4th of July Parade wherein we’ll hand out flyers for Vacation Bible School.  July 3, at 6:00 p.m. we’ll have a Preparation Party where we’ll decorate the float.  By the way, let us know if you have a trailer we can borrow!  Then the next morning we’ll leave the church at 8:30 to join the festivities.  That night we’ll gather at 6:00.  Bring meat to barbecue and another dish to share.  We’ll play games, fellowship and celebrate our nation’s birth while honoring the Church which has done so much to make our nation great.

Love,
Jim Meek

MISSION TRIP TO TIJUANA, MEXICO
JUNE 15-22 2018

Our Missions team is finishing up their week with Pastor Carlos of La Roca Ministries of Tijuana, Mexico, helping the Missionaries work in the field to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of men, women, and children in the local area.

La Roca Ministries reaches out to touch people’s lives that are devastated by poverty, neglect, and despair. These people find themselves enslaved to drugs and alcohol and living in the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Our desire is to mirror Christ’s compassion and concern to these people.

It has been said, “give a person a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a life.” We believed in “teaching people how to fish”. We want to see lives transformed and we believe that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our program seeks to help rebuild lives by making disciples; raising up men, women, and teens as future leaders and missionaries, and sending them forth to advance the Kingdom of God on earth. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. You are making a difference today and for eternity! ≈ Pastor Carlos

& DESSERT FELLOWSHIP
JUNE 24, 2018
6:00 pm

We’ll be looking at our new Bylaws proposal.  Please pray for this process.  God has been working miraculously in our church and in people’s lives.  But there has also been a lot of suffering and mourning.  Let’s raise the banner of love and hope.  Remember, “His banner over me is love” (Song of Solomon 2:4)

ARDEN-ARCADE 4TH OF JULY PARADE
July 4, 2018
7:00 am
Meet at the church for last minute preparations

The missions and evangelism team is gearing up for this Summer's activities. Everyone is looking forward to the church's participation in the Annual Arden-Arcade 4th of July Parade. Each year, we enter a float in the parade to promote our church and Vacation Bible School to our community. It is a great opportunity for us to spotlight our church to the community in this very visible venue. We do our very best to provide a service to our community through offering family-friendly activities and a safe place for our children to thrive.

These are a few things that we need in preparation for the parade:

A trailer: 12 x 6 utility (rental approx. $30)
►4 red wagons used to hold water bottles
►Ice (needed for July 4-5)
►Paper towel tubes

If you want to help with the preparations for the parade a sign up is available in the church lobby.
