Enjoy Having Your Mind On Heaven & Your Feet On Earth 8.26.18

Sunday's Message
August 26, 2018

Charlemagne was crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 800 A.D.  Through conquests he united a continent and became known as the Father of Europe.  But he was also a devout Christian.  He protected the pope, brought much of Spain into Christian influence and encouraged literacy among his subjects.  Years later Dante in Divine Comedy would place Charlemagne among the great Christians in heaven.  Charlemagne was an example of being heavenly minded and of earthly good.  That’s what we should be!

Sunday I’m preaching on “Enjoy Having Your Mind on Heaven and Your Feet on Earth” from Colossians 3:13-17.  While in prison Paul wrote to the church in Colossae in modern Turkey.  He reminded members to keep their minds on things above.  He then gave them a list of immoral qualities to lay aside like so many filthy garments and a list of good qualities to put on like fresh linen.

Please come Sunday and learn to put aside the old man and to put on Christ.  He’ll make you of earthly value, and he’ll keep your mind fixed on the glories of heaven.

Speaking of being of earthly good, this Saturday from 8:00 till 1:00 we’ll have a workday at the church.  We’ll have things for you to eat, the fellowship will be wonderful and you’ll be working for Jesus.  Not bad!  Even if you can’t come for the whole time, at least come for part of the work and you’ll impact eternity.
