Walk To Save Others 3.18.18

Sunday's Message
March 18, 2018

Billy Graham did a revival in the Phoenix area when I was a kid.  I went with my church to visit door-to-door to invite people to the revival.  I learned that if you smile at people they’ll usually smile back.  If you invite people to an event they’ll usually be gracious.  I learned to be open to strangers.  These would be good lessons for a future of telling people about Jesus.
We need to walk with Jesus.  He came to seek and to save that which is lost.  We need to do that with him.

This Sunday I’m preaching on “Walk to Save Others” from Luke 19:1-10.  We’ll study one of the great stories of the Bible.  The vertically challenged Zaccheus ran ahead of Jesus and the crowd in order to climb a sycamore tree so he could see the Master.  When Jesus came to the tree he looked up and invited himself to the tax collector’s house.  Zaccheus wasn’t used to people looking up at him, especially someone as important as Jesus!
Out of gratitude Zaccheus vowed to give half of his wealth to the poor and to return four times what he had cheated people.  This guy had just been saved and he proved it!
Like Zaccheus we should accept Jesus’ invitation and receive him into our “house” (our lives).  Like Jesus we should seek and save that which is lost.  Be inspired and informed on how to do that this Sunday.
Meanwhile, invite people to the children’s musical March 25 at 10:30.  I’ll be preaching in that service as well.  Also, invite people to the Good Friday event March 30.  It will be a unique presentation!  Then, bring people Easter morning to Sunday School and worship.  The kids will have an Easter Egg Hunt tied into the story of resurrection.  Easter is a great time to invite people to a church where they’ll hear how to be saved for eternal, abundant life.

With love in Christ,
Dr. Jim Meek
