Prayer for A Life Lived in Service

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2: 10 (ESV)

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3: 23 (NLT)

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Ephesians 4: 11-13 (NLT)

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Romans 12:1 (NLT)

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.  If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Romans 12: 6-8 (NLT)

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5: 22-23 (NLT)

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Romans 12: 9-13 (NLT)

Holy wonderful Lord,
I pray for those who you have chosen, those called by your name,
according to your glorious purpose. I pray we will have a full understanding of how you have made us unique in talent and temperament with special gifts that will produce in us good works you have prepared for us to do.

I pray we would use these gifts, talents and our temperaments to fulfill the wonderful plan you have for us. I pray as we live each day that we would be diligent in working hard, knowing our work is a reflection of our love and devotion to you. I pray that each of us would fully understand our place in the Body of Christ - that we would take responsibility to build up the Body of Christ in unity, faith and knowledge so each of us will grow to full maturity in the standard Christ has given us. Help us to realize that we can only do this when we have surrendered our bodies to you; a perfect Holy sacrifice, living in submission to your will which is our true worship of you.

Help us to know our gifts and to use them well to our best ability and to take them seriously. Let your Holy Spirit produce in us Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. Allow us to live our lives in genuine authenticity, honoring each other, working hard, and serving YOU with great enthusiasm and joy. Help to be confident in Hope, patient in trouble and to never stop praying. Help us to always be eager to help those in need and to always practice hospitality - AMEN.

SERVICE is an important part of our Ministry at El Camino Baptist Church.

What Happens When We Serve: Giving yourself to ministry and service will not only impact the lives of the ones you are serving, but it will also have a drastic impact on YOU as well. As we give ourselves to the Lord in service we become partners with God in His plans and purposes. As partners, we become more tuned to God’s passion and the building of His Kingdom. What could be more exciting than this? Join Him at Serving at El Camino. Praise the Lord!

How Can I Get Involved? Our Ministry leaders are ready to talk to you.
