Sunday's Message
March 12, 2017

Give Your Child To God

This month I’m preaching on, “Build a Great Family.”  Last Sunday I preached on, “Let God Arrange the Marriage,” and we dealt with Eliezer getting a wife for his master’s son, Isaac.  This Sunday we’ll go back in time and study the moment when Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice to God.  The sermon is entitled, “Give Your Child to God,” from Genesis 22:1-17.

Please join us and learn how to give everything to God, including your kids.

When we truly give our kids to God, we don’t worry about them.  When we worry about them it shows we haven’t given them to God.

If your kids have moved away from home, there’s still a need to give them to God so that 1) God has our “permission” and “encouragement” to watch over them and 2) we won’t get frustrated over them and their choices.

If you don’t have kids and won’t have kids, the sermon will still be applicable.  When we learn to give everything to God then we soar on eagles’ wings.

With love in Christ,
Dr. Jim Meek

Give from a Grateful Heart

We have been discussing Why Do We Give?

Last time we learned we give

Lastly, we give

Because I Trust God and Want to Partner with Him for a Greater Purpose

Jesus saw crowds of people gathering so He went to the top of the mountain and sat down. He gathered His disciples around him and He taught. He taught many things that would change our perspective on religion and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. He spoke in this passage about our perspective on wealth.

Matthew 6:19-21      “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust  destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Matthew 6:33     Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

He knows our hearts better than we do. He knows that what we place our heart on will eventually direct the course of our life and the choices we make. He knew that where our HEART is focused is also where our TRUST is focused. Jesus knows our trust can only remain in GOD. And as we put our TRUST IN GOD we are freed from worry and our hearts can be transformed so that we may focus on something of greater purpose and of more lasting value. That we might realize the blessings given to us by God can now reach beyond our life here on earth and be of eternal value to the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 16:16-18  Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being… and upon this rock  I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

Jesus wants our desire to be on HIM.  As we offer ourselves in spiritual worship to God--all that we are—our heart, our hands, our eyes our feet and all that we possess, so that we may be a blessing to others and further the Kingdom of His work. God has given us a great treasure, Jesus, the Son of the Living God. Our loving, Heavenly Father wants to bless us. He wants to meet our needs. He has a grand purpose and design for us as we are partners with Him for His Kingdom purpose. This is why He built His church to carry out His perfect will.

So, what happens when we give?

God is pleased,
   He provides our needs,
       He gives us purpose.

God has given us a great opportunity to partner with Him and a new perspective; realizing that the blessings given to us by God reach beyond this life on earth when we offer ourselves in spiritual worship to God all that we are—our heart, our hands, our eyes our feet and all that we possess— Amen.

Make your Coventant of Generosity to God

In Honor of Our Lord,
Debbie Fredrickson
