Sunday's Message, November 13, 2016

Give to God and Country Matthew 22: 15-22

Sunday I'll be preaching on, "Give to God and Country." We'll honor our veterans and we'll commit ourselves to supporting our new President and all the other officials in our great country.

Romans 13:1-7 emphasizes the need to be subject to the governing authorities. Paul wrote this while Nero was on the throne! Ultimately Nero would behead Paul! This reminds us that there are issues we must support even in defiance of our government, but the rule of thumb remains that whenever possible we must support our government, for doing otherwise comprises our chance to reach people for Christ.

Some have given their all for their country by dying in our many wars and police actions. All veterans put their lives on the line for their country. Likewise, we must die to ourselves for our God.

The ancient coins bore the image of Caesar, so Jesus said that people must give unto Caesar, that which is Caesar's. But we're all made in God's image, so we must give ourselves totally to God. That means turn our sins over to him and let him change us. That also means sharing Christ with others, and giving time and money to Christ's body, the church.

Please come Sunday and pray that God will use us as we give to our nation and our God.

With Love in Christ,
Dr. Jim Meek

Serving Our Community

View our Video

Our Annual Fall Festival was a great success. Over all we had around 105 visitors and 50 volunteers helping with this event. We can say with confidence that everyone had a lot of fun playing games, winning prizes and enjoying the food.

This event wasn't only about having fun, we wanted to be a blessing to our community as well by giving away an assortment of clothing. We gave away so many clothes and even had lots of left overs which made it possible to donate them to the Union Gospel Mission's Clothes closet. Our prayer team also had the opportunity to talk and pray with some of our visitors.

We thank God for His provision and thank everyone for all the hard work which helped make this event possible! We are looking forward to next year when we can do this again.

SERVICE is an important part of our Ministry at El Camino Baptist Church. How Can I Get Involved? Our Ministry leaders are ready to talk to you.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship" (Romans 12:1-2).
