BE GRATEFUL FOR HEALING

Sophie was bedridden for almost four years from Lyme disease and mini-strokes. However, she managed to make it to a prayer service. The pastor spoke about God’s healing power. She felt that her pain was lifted. The next morning, she woke up pain free! She’s grateful for God’s healing power!

A few Thursdays ago I was in horrible pain, but I wanted to go visiting with my friend Reuben for the church. That night, weeping, my wife insisted that I go to emergency. My oldest son also insisted, as did a nurse whom I called.

I was in emergency from 10:00 p.m. till 6:30 a.m. I went through EKG, CAT scan, imaging, X-rays, bloodwork and urine testing. I had to wait for the results before I could leave. I didn’t sleep at all that night.

The consensus was that I had stuff stuck in my intestines. I was told to drink plenty of water and I was given a prescription for a laxative. The miracle was that after praying all night and not yet taking any medication, I went home pain free that morning. The pain has only recurred sparingly and has been nothing like it was. I attribute this to God answering prayer.

This doesn’t mean I’m going to ignore the advise of doctors, nor will I refuse to take proper medications and procedures. But it does mean that God is still in the miracle-working business.

Sunday I’m preaching on “Be Grateful for Healing” from Luke 17:11-19. We’ll talk about “Have Faith,” verses 11-14; and “Give Thanks,” verses 15-19. It’s about the lepers whom Jesus healed, and the Samaritan who returned to give thanks. Let’s be like that Samaritan and give thanks for the healing God has provided and will provide.

Love,

Jim Meek
