FACE OFF AGAINST THE WORLD'S VALUES
Clair is not from a Christian background. Her dad left when she was 2 months old, and the household was trapped in alcoholism. She believed there was a God. She went to church, sang in the choir, but would do things with the worldly crowds to escape her miserable life. Age 16 she got involved with Dave who was into drugs and stealing. She got kicked out of her home and became homeless. She wanted to end it all.
As Clair called out to God, she heard him for the first time. She met some true Christians and learned who Jesus was. At a retreat she heard a speaker who was passionate about Jesus. She invited Jesus into her heart and he transformed her life. She said, “No one had ever loved me before, but he filled me with love. Every time the world was saying, ‘No,’ God was saying ‘Yes.’” She got a degree from college, got a job and met a man who had been an atheist but gave his life to Christ. Now they’re married and have a wonderful son. God is good!
Sunday I’m preaching on “Face Off against the World’s Values” from 2 Kings 22:1-13. I’ll talk about “Do Right in God’s Sight,” verses 1-2; “Faithfully Build the Church,” verses 3-7; and “Follow God’s Word,” verses 8-13. Express your Christian values and join us for Sunday School and worship!
Please come this Saturday to our Trunk and Treat, 5:30-7:30. You can help us reach out to the community or just come and have fun!
Love,
Jim Meek
