“The Divine Comedy” written by Dante between 1308 and 1321, is one of the greatest works of all time. It’s an allegory representing the soul’s journey to God. He finished it right before he died. It consists of three parts, “Inferno,” and “Purgatorio,” wherein the Roman poet Virgil and the lovely Beatrice guide Dante, and “Paradiso,” wherein Saint Bernard of Clairvaux guides him through heaven. Purgatory, of course, is a place in Roman Catholic teaching which contains those who are working their way toward heaven. As we read the works, we’re convinced that we want to be in the grateful company of the saved who are enjoying heaven!
Sunday I’m preaching on “Join the Grateful Company” from Isaiah 35. We’ll look at “Thank God with Nature,” verses 1-2; “Thank God with the Lowly,” verses 3-7; and “Thank God with the Saved,” verses 8-10. Please come and worship with a grateful heart.
My thanks to all who helped with the Trunk and Treat last Saturday. Pray for us as we follow up on these people, and pray as we prepare for our Live Nativity in December.
